Hosting Family Briefing - Thank You

Dear Parents and Kemingnites,

First and foremost, a big 'Thank you' for attending the short briefing session and also all the support that you guys have given before, during and after the trip.

We are sure that you are all exciting and getting ready in preparation for the arrival of our guests, Shimen students and teachers! Keming Primary School is really raring in anticipation of their arrival that is rapidly approaching!

Here are some useful quick information for you reference:

Date of arrival to Singapore : 27th July 2008, Sunday.
School will be arranging for accomodation and transport for the day.

Dates for Homestay : 1st August 2008 (Friday) - 3 August 2008 (Sunday)

Special Arrangements

1st August (Friday)
Please pick up our guests from school (MMR Room) at 1.00pm

2nd August (Saturday)
Please take our guests to the venue (Bukit-Batok) for the National Day Dinner. You can pick him/her up at 10.30pm

We will be circulating a note of the exact venue and time for the National Day Dinner soon.

3rd August ( Sunday)
Please take our guests back to the hostel by 8pm

Dear Kemingnites who participated in the China Immersion Programme,

Do not forget our meeting tomorrow (16th June 2008) in school at 8.30am! Oh yes we will be in the Mac Lab and save the photos that you have taken in a thumbdrive and bring it along!

Day 12 : Disneyland & Home Sweet Home

Finally.... We are off to Hong Kong Disneyland today!
Most of us have never been there before. It is a paradise with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Tarzan, Dumbo the elephant, Chipmunks and a lot of interesting cartoon characters. We had great fun in Adventure Land, Fantasy Land and Tomorrow Land. WOW!!! The cruise, movie theatres, mad hatter teacups, Dumbo elephant rides, space mountain roller coaster, Cinderella carousel... brightened up our day. How we wish we could stay longer to see the fireworks... but then we had to catch a flight home to Singapore in the evening.

We were quite reluctant to leave Disneyland... so sad! However, the thought of meeting our families and friends back home made us feel better. Parting has never been easy, as what we have realised on this trip. After bidding goodbye to Disneyland, we headed for the airport. It is time to be home with our loved ones in Singapore.

Home, Sweet Home!

Day 11 : Goodbye, Shimen

Today is the day we depart from Shimen to our next destination, Hong Kong. All of us had mixed feelings of excitement and sadness actually. On the one hand, we wanted to go to Disneyland (another highlight of this trip) and be home with our families, on the other hand, we did not want to leave our Shimen buddies and teachers behind. After the majestic Fan Dance (with the whole school performing in the Parade Square) and group photo-taking, we bade farewell to the Principal, Vice Principals, teachers and all in Shimen. The entire experience here was FANTASTIC, giving us lots of beautiful memories... We will miss this place, not forgetting the nutritious canteen food, hostel life, interesting lessons, hosting families, Shimen teachers and friends. Overall, this overseas immersion programme has been very fruitful for students and teachers. Guess what? Our wushu instructors are bringing back the 'Taiji Shan' (Fan dance with taiji strokes, designed by Shimen wushu teacher) to Keming.

Shimen, we will be back next year in 2009! Meanwhile, we look forward to your arrival in July. We are all ready to show you around our beautiful country, Singapore.


We reached Hong Kong in the evening and took a tram up the Victoria Peak after dinner. The night scenery is really beautiful with the numerous lightings in Hong Kong island. Needless to say, we posed for photo-taking, of course!

After that, our tour guide took us to the Ladies Market to shop for souvenirs. Wow! The shopping experience was GREAT! All of us enjoyed 'hopping' from one stall to another (with our teachers helping us to bargain for a good buy in Cantonese, hence stretching our Hong Kong dollars) buying things for our family members and friends. It was a fun-filled day.

Now, we are looking forward to tomorrow's adventures in Hong Kong Disneyland. The short overnight wait seems like eternity...
